"Medium chicken and sausage gumbo. Light spice," calls out Paul Hebert from the front window of the small shed sized restaurant. Hebert's Cajun Food has been busy. Paul's son Mark has been cooking up a storm.

"Just put in the shrimp. Doesn't take long and we got some jambalaya, Chicken and sausage jambalaya. We use a Louisiana pheasant. It's the same thing as a Texas chicken," explains Mark Hebert, as he continuously stirs a large pot.

Since 1993, this small shop across the street from Texas A&M's campus has been serving Cajun food. Slow cooked and all from family recipe's.

"It's all my recipes handed down from my daddy. And now I handed them down to him. Now he's cooking it all," says Paul. Paul used to do the cooking, but explains that he's retired now and just stops by to help out and get in trouble.

Students, professors and near by construction workers all make the short walk across University Drive for lunch.

"It's just a really tasty place to eat at. I really enjoy the triple extra spice. Really cleans out the sinuses in a day... great hangover food. I just love this place," says Joseph Dyer, a Texas A&M Senior.

In cars and by foot, folks come everyday for a good meal.

The Hebert's are ready for those looking to grab something Cajun to celebrate the Saint's victory. They are also gearing up for a big Fat Tuesday this year to kick off Mardi Gras.

I went there for lunch today, for the first time. I have to say all the comments are correct. Nice people and very good shrimp gumbo.

I have to agree with all the comments - great food, great price plus great friendly people - what more could you asked for?
