SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The governor of South Dakota says he'll be on an open phone line tonight to the death chamber when a Texan's punishment is carried out.

Elijah Page of Athens, Texas, was condemned over the 2000 torture slaying of Chester Poage of Spearfish, South Dakota.

Page has stopped all of his appeals.

It would be the first execution in South Dakota in 60 years.

Governor Mike Rounds says he'll be in Pierre, South Dakota, but on an open telephone line to the execution chamber at the penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
