A set of keys and tire rims may have been the smoking gun that landed a trio of men behind bars following a police pursuit in College Station Friday.
Around 3:30 a.m., College Station police began following two suspicious vehicles, a maroon four door sedan and a white Dodge Ram pickup truck from the Eastmark Apartment complex at the 2400 block of Central Park Lane.
A pursuit involving two different officers ensued with the truck, which authorities later learned had just been reported stolen from Brenham.
Although police lost sight of the pickup, it was later found abandoned near the intersection of George Bush and Olson.
At 4:22 a.m., Texas A&M University Police found the sedan with five people inside and a number of tire accessories linking the car to the stolen truck.
Nickolas Hatter of Houston was charged with possession of stolen property. Also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana was Jareal Christopher Horton, along with Brenham resident Phillip Dewayne Minifee, who was charged with driving with an invalid license.
Investigators are working with the Brenham Police Department and charges regarding the stolen pickup truck are pending.
