Grimes County officials say five people were injured Saturday when two vehicles collided on Highway 30 near FM 2620.
Officials say the driver of a truck traveling down Highway 30 slowed down to avoid two vehicles parked along the shoulder. The driver of a SUV behind the truck did not notice the driver had slowed down.
Witnesses told authorities the SUV reared the truck. Five children between the ages of eight and 12 were injured and taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
An 11-year-old girl was lifted-lighted to the facility because she sustained a cut to her head. Highway 30 was shut down for a short time as law enforcement officials cleared the accident scene.
Authorities say the investigation is on going and citations could be issued.
