Saturday brings another chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms to the Brazos Valley. During the afternoon hours, scattered areas of rain and storms could develop in the daytime heat (30%). A line of rain and thunderstorms will be possible between sunset and midnight -- moving in from the north & west. If these storms can reach the area, they could pose a localized flooding & damaging wind threat.
After weeks of heavy rain and flooding, Walker County will be getting some much needed assistance.
Governor Rick Perry has declared the county a disaster area. Perry signed a proclamation in June for 37 counties and added Walker County along with 15 other counties last week.
The Trinity River continues to cause problems in the county. Heavy rains and flood waters out of the Dallas area have significantly raised the level of the river. Water has seeped into about 10 houses and several roads remain closed.
The Trinity River has crested at 137 feet and is expected to stay that way until Tuesday.
