Brenham smokers will have to think again before lighting up outside of their home.
After two years of debating, the city's no-smoking ordinance will take effect Tuesday.
It includes most public places, but excludes bars, convenience stores, and employee-only areas of manufacturing facilities.
Businesses affected will be required to post no-smoking signs in letters at least one inch high or by using the international no-smoking symbol.
Violators of the new regulation, including both the owner or operator of the facility and the smoker, will have to pay the price.
