Fake Priest Blamed for Thefts in Kilgore Hospital

KILGORE, Texas (AP) - Kilgore police are looking for a man who passes himself off as a priest to steal from hospital patients.

Authorities say the man wears a collar and pretends to be ministering to his victims.

Police say the suspect turned up last week at Kilgore's Laird Hospital.

Witnesses say the bogus priest appeared to be praying with some patients.

Authorities have determined that a 78-year-old patient had his credit card stolen.

The so-called "fake father" was later caught on security video at a Kilgore pharmacy, using the credit card to buy $800 worth of gift certificates.
