AUSTIN (AP) - A California businessman dug up Troy Aikman's Social Security number on the Texas Secretary of State's Web site. Steven Peisner says the point is to focus attention on the vulnerability of personal information on the site.
His company, sellitsafe.com, works to protect companies from fraud related to identity theft.
Aikman's Uniform Commercial Code financing statement no longer shows his Social Security number.
A spokeswoman for the Secretary of State's Office says a number had been listed but was removed.
The office began in 2005 to remove Social Security numbers from newly filed public documents.
The office is still working to remove the numbers from older documents.
