Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare. So when authorities got a call from a local retail store reporting a missing child they sprung into action.
But was it all just a prank?
In all, ten firefighters and nine police officers responded to the Sam's Club in College Station just after five Sunday evening. This after an unidentified person called the store claiming they'd accidentally left behind a three-year old girl and were on their way back there to pick her up.
The store was put on lock down and the entrances and exits were guarded, but police say after exerting about 20 man hours at the location their search turned up nothing.
"We don't have a reason to believe at this point in time that there is a missing child," Lt. Rodney Sigler with the College Station Police Department said.
College Station police say they have reviewed surveillance video from the store but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Currently they are looking into the origin of the call.
As a precaution, Sam's Club officials say a "Code Adam" was issued Sunday and a description of the child was given out over a loud speaker. They say this is a standard procedure across all of their stores.
