This group of women goes to ladies night to learn about guns.

"It's the new ladies night! Who needs margaritas," questioned College Station resident Sylvia Lewis.

It wasn't your typical gathering as several Brazos Valley women got a chance to cover the critical criteria of firearm safety. It was all part of a Ladies Night at Champion Firearms in College Station.

"We cover how to shoot, how to be safe, how to properly store, how to maintain and clean and conceal carry methods," said Katie Stulce with Champion Firearms.

"I think safety is a very important thing right now," said Kimberly Thomas of College Station.

Thomas has been carrying for two years now and her main concern is protection.

"We've got people mugged and attacked just bringing their groceries home from work. 90-year-old ladies getting raped. The worlds just gone crazy," said Thomas.

"i've had my conceal carry for about six months and I'm still trying to get comfortable," said Lewis.

Lewis is new to owning a firearm and it took a little convincing for her to get one.

"My husband is big into this and definitely believes in safety and protection and he got me enticed," said Lewis.

"I'm here to shoot my Christmas present," said Dawn Spence of Bryan.

Spence has been around guns her whole life. She's not intimated by firearms but she does prefer a more female friendly way of learning about them.

"It makes it a little less stressful because if your husband is there, he tells you...go like, do like this. Squeeze the trigger like this. I think you just have to shoot it on your own and figure out what's comfortable for you and what works for you and that's how you get comfortable with your gun and feel ok to use it," said Spence.

If you're interested in attending the next Ladies Night at Champion Firearms, it's scheduled for April 1st and you can find more information by clicking the link below.

Way to go ladies and Champions for conducting this event, having 3 daughters I support this 100%. Everybody should learn gun safety, even if they do not want to own one. Kinda like learning to use a stick shift and clutch, even though you have a automatic transmission vehicle. You may never have to use one but if you do then you have some idea on what to do.
