Brenda Sikorski has been a member at Inches-A-Weigh in Bryan for three weeks. She returned Tuesday, hoping to be greeted by more than a note on the front door.

"I had seen the note on the door stating that they were going to be closed, so I just thought I'd come back today and see if the doors were open," said Sikorski.

The note stated the gym's doors had been locked "because of non-payment of a debt owed to the landlord." The note was dated March 4.

"It kind of upsets me because I paid for a membership and I've heard nothing from anyone. (I want to know) if they're going to open the doors again or if I've lost that money," said Sikorski.

Sikorski said she paid $200 for her membership, and she'd like to know when Inches-A-Weigh would reopen before joining another gym.

"I'm worried about the little girls that are our trainers because I love them all. They're really sweet so I just wonder what's going to happen to them," said Sikorski.

Tuesday, an Inches-A-Weigh employee spoke with Sikorski in the gym's parking lot. News 3 asked the employee how we could get in contact with the owner of the gym. The employee offered to take our phone number and get in contact with the owner herself. Our phone calls to the gym were answered only by a voice recording.

News 3 also called the number listed for the gym's landlord, R & S Leasing. Phone calls to the company located in Brenham were not returned Tuesday.

Cindy Norri and her 15-year-old daughter joined Inches-A-Weigh last October. Norri said she spent over $1700 for their memberships.

"We would like our money back or at least what's left of the year back. So that we can either look into something else that's been in town longer and more stable maybe"

Norri said in the meantime, she won't spend anymore time hoping to hear from the gym's management.

Wow - I just spoke to Aerofit and they are honoring even the prepaid contracts. I prepaid mine 9 days before they closed the doors and was pretty distressed. Now, I'm just amazed! What a wonderful thing Aerofit is doing!

I worked out there for only 2 weeks and paid a lot of money! Tomorrow I will be filing in small claims!

Actually Aerofit is honoring prepaid and monthly agreements for up to two years. No enrollment for the monthly customers and no fees for the prepaid members. You do need to take your agreement though for proof of membership.
