A couple of long-discussed items will be back on the agenda for College Station's city council Thursday. Wednesday, one of the city councilmembers joined the only local morning television newscast to talk about Wellborn and the animal ordinance.

Larry Stewart, the Place 5 representative on the council, was live on Brazos Valley This Morning to provide his thoughts on the issues. That interview can be viewed in the video player above.

Thursday, the city council will meet in a workshop session to hear a staff presentation concerning Wellborn's future. The community is in line to be annexed in the coming years -- between three and ten years from now, according to the city's comprehensive plan -- but residents there have submitted a petition to have a vote on incorporating.

That vote will not come during the May elections. The last chance to get that added to the ballot came and went at a February council meeting. Because not all councilmembers would be present at that meeting, the council pushed discussion on the matter to Thursday's meeting. They are slated to discuss other options available that would meet the desires of Wellborn residents while avoiding an incorporation vote.

Also on the agenda for the council is a regular meeting discussion on a revamped animal control ordinance. Among the changes possible are different limits on how many animals can call a household home. The current limit is four, but other options are being considered, including doing away with limits, or having different limits based on where the home is and the type of home.

College Station is shooting itself in the foot. Pretty soon people are going to get tired of the Council being a dictatorship and move some where else. Then College Station is going have a declining tax base. Recall election now. Bring Larry Ringer and Larry Marriot back now!!!!

Hey, enough with Wellborn (love ya) don't forget to look at the animals. They are going to limit the number of animals you can have AND I think they will require licensing for rabbits. Really? How stupid is that?

Lord John Crompton Park was 'renamed' from Woodway Park. It goes along with the P David Romei Arts Center. The arrogance of CS city council and staff is astounding. They can only see their view on things. For instance, they have a hard time seeing that Wellborn wants to incorporate (it's not avoiding annexation....). They can't understand why no one trusts them when they say they have no plans to annex Wellborn for ten years. Ha! That's what the neighborhood of Wellborn Oaks thought too.
