When 11 week old pup Xena fell and broke her leg, her owners rushed her immediately to the small animal clinic at Texas A&M.

Doctors repaired her left back leg, replacing tendons and bone with tension bands and steel pins.

It's a fairly simple procedure, but one that requires a good amount of rehabilitation.

Xena, a border collie, needed the surgery right away because she's a candidate for a search and rescue program.

Xena's father Pete is a border collie as well and has worked all over the county from disaster searched to crime scenes.

She'll be following in his footsteps as a search and rescue dog.

If you want to help Xena out, there is link below this story for more information.
