The first of three new portable medical clinics built by a College Station church is now on its way to Haiti.
Wednesday morning, a flatbed semi arrived at A&M United Methodist Church to load the container. From here, it will be placed aboard a ship bound for Haiti.
"We are hopeful that this one that left this morning will be on a ship by Friday and in Haiti within a week to two weeks," said Carol Patton, Project Volunteer. "That just does nothing but make us the happiest people in the world to be able to help the people of Haiti."
The remaining two portable clinics will be shipped out in the next couple of weeks.
