A College Station city council workshop on Wellborn yielded some answers.
Just not the ones Wellborn wanted.
Staff recommended the council not allow Wellborn to have a special incorporation election at a workshop Thursday.
Instead it suggests other options including a non-annexation development agreement which could delay annexation efforts up to 15 years.
At the end of the meeting Council Member Katy-Marie Lyles filed a motion to have the city staff investigate developing a small area plan between College Station and residents in Wellborn.
Karen Severn with Citizens for Wellborn said her group will continue to fight for incorporation and they'll now consider other options including having College Station residents sign a petition in their favor.
"We could take the action of requesting that they immediately annex all of the land that we have defined as the town of Wellborn. Not a 2 year, 3 year process but immediately and provide city services immediately," said Karen Severn, Treasurer of Citizens for Wellborn.
"If they did do that we would take it under advisement just as we do any other petition for annexation. Start doing things like cost benefit analysis and start looking at should we and could we actually annex those areas," said Bob Cowell, College Station Planning and Development Director.
Since this was only a workshop, no formal action was taken.

They haven't even READ the application?!?!?
Cowell has not read the proposal, we have already showed the council how this will affect the City if they annex. It will cost the city additional dollar to provide water, utilities, police, fire, zoning, road and bridge, etc.... it's all in the paperwork that we filed with the city but they have admitted to NOT reading it. They will collect more in taxes but all of that will be taken up PLUS more will be spent in the annexation. YES CITIZENS OF COLLEGE STATION THIS WILL DILUTE YOUR CITY SERVICES AND YOUR TAX DOLLARS WILL BE SPENT. OUR RECORDS ARE OPEN FOR ANYONE TO VIEW. IT'S ALL ON THE WEB. WE DONT HIDE.
Here is one novel comment made by some of the city council members they said "our job is to protect the citizens of CS". FROM WHAT? FROM WELLBORN??? That is about as ludicrous as saying those that dont live in CS should pay taxes to drive on the CS roads!!! Really? What are you protecting your citizens from? Why dont you put it to a vote and let the citizens of CS decide what they want!!!
