CONROE, Texas -- A 22-year-veteran of the Conroe Police Department was convicted Thursday of robbing a bank where he had worked security for years, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno said.
Michael Edward Tindall, 48, entered the First Bank of Conroe on Aug. 11, 2008 wearing a white motorcycle helmet and left with approximately $28,000, prosecutors said. During the robbery, the tellers said he used lingo known by bank insiders and that his voice sounded familiar.
An extensive FBI investigation and review of the bank robbery video indentifed Tindall as a suspect in the case; and he was arrested on March 24, 2009.
Tindall faced money problems and an unexplained influx of cash deposits hit his account after the robbery, according to the investigation.
Tindall faces up to 20 years of prison a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on June 25.
