DALLAS -- A chase Monday through Dallas and neighboring cities, possibly over a sick cat, ended with the driver pulling over and officers tackling him.
The man appeared to have blood on his head as officers led him away after the SUV chase ended in Richardson, near busy Highway 75.
The man told reporters at the scene that his cat was dying and he was rushing to get the animal to a veterinarian. When asked why he didn't stop, the driver said he was hoping that the pursuing officers would just quit following him.
Police say animal control has taken custody of the cat. No word yet on its ailment.
Several TV stations in the Dallas area carried the chase live.
