Local residents familiar with social security heard from administration experts Wednesday afternoon.
The Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities invited a group of residents who receive benefits or those who work with disabled residents to hear from the incentive's coordinator for the region.
Those in attendance heard about the Return to Work policy, and how those who might get back to work can keep social security money coming in.
"We have several programs that we talk about where we can encourage people to try and return to work," said Donna Peebles with the Social Security Adminstration. "If it works and they're able to continue working, great. If it doesn't work, then they're not going to lose their benefits."
If you weren't able to make it to the meeting and you'd like more information, you can call the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213, or visit the Social Security website.
