ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico state police say three sisters who went missing earlier this week have been found safe in El Paso.

Lieutenant Rick Anglada says the girls were heading toward the Mexican border.

He says all three girls were together and doing OK.

Fourteen-year-old Mercedes Lara-Dickson, her 13-year-old sister Stacy and seven-year-old sister Elizabeth ran away from home in Truth or Consequences Tuesday.

Police believe they were trying to make contact with their biological mother.
