Some folks are hoping to beautify an old, neglected cemetery.
Members of the Dr. William Hammond, Senior Foundation held a barbecue and bake sale on Saturday at Sue Haswell Park.
The purpose of the event was to raise money to help finance a clean up effort of the Grandview Cemetery.
The owner of the cemetery Walter Watson said Saturday's fundraiser was just the beginning of other events that will help the foundation achieve its goal.
"Put us in a position we need to be in to really take care of the cemetery like needs to be taken care of," Hammond said.
The Grandview Cemetery was built in 1922 and was originally established as a black community cemetary.
