The 14th Annual Feast of Caring has been deemed a success.

Wednesday at the Brazos Center, people from all across the area came together for a modest meal to benefit the hungry. A simple plate of rice, beans and sausage represented a humble meal that could easily satisfy the hunger of someone in need.

Participants were encouraged to make a donation to the Brazos Valley Food Bank. Alsie Bond volunteered at the feast and said she is proud to make a positive impact in her community.

"The most rewarding thing for me is knowing that I'm giving back to the community and I'm doing something to support other people and to help other people," Bond said.

This year, the event raise $20,760 not including $290 that was donated for the Food Bank's Back Pack program.
