School may not start for a few more weeks, but some local residents turned out to help prepare students for the first day of school.
The Junior League has been hard at work organizing "Stuff the Bus" events across town.
Friday morning, the event was hosted at Doc Green's in College Station.
Organizers collected supplies and cash donations for less fortunate area students.
"Last year, I know in Bryan we had 7,000 kids get school supplies from the Junior League," Mike Cargill, Bryan ISD Superintendent said. "It's a wonderful gift to give to children, and it's the kind of gift that keeps on giving because it really helps these students do better in school."
Despite hot temperatures, crowds turned out in support.
"This is just one of the ways that is shown how College Station ISD and Bryan ISD and the whole Brazos Valley are supported by organizations in this area," College Station ISD Superintendent Eddie Coulson said.
