Texas A&M students are known for having success in a wide range of things, but one student is taking the road to Hollywood several decades after getting her degree.

"I'm just about 50 and I've got a lot of years left. I want to start some new things here," said Aggie actress Tammy Jackson.

With her nest finally empty at home, Jackson, a College Station psychologist, is doing something she has always wanted to do-acting.

"They're similar in some ways, being a psychologist and being an actress. They both involve active listening," said Jackson.

Tammy got her big break last year when she was cast in a play at Texas A&M. A friend posted this video of her performance on the internet and Tammy used it to get her next big break.

"I just took a chance and emailed the guy my video. Low and behold, I got an audition," said Jackson.

The power of the web helped Tammy nab a role in the movie, "Open When Johnny Can Read" and now she's learning about movie production at a fast pace.

"On stage the audience is hundreds of feet away and everything is broad. For film everything is right in your face," said Jackson.

With her dreams on hold for 30 years, getting back to what she loves most has been Tammy's biggest motivation.

"We have all these passions and creativeness we tend to forget, as we have families and move on, but I know I can do this," said Jackson

Coming up Tuesday on KBTX News 3, Shane McAuliffe will have more with the director, Matthew Griffin, of "Open When Johnny Can Read." Turns out he too has a few ties to Texas A&M.

Thank you so much for the well wishes. My family will always be my first priority, but I believe that it is never too late to pursue our dreams. This Indy film is a great outlet and will, hopefully, inspire others to pursue their own creative outlets.

ME- I agree with you, however, if you're going to judge someone's grammar or punctuation you need to make sure you have the correct punctuation as well.
