McFarland Announces Plans to Retire from Texas A&M-Commerce

COMMERCE, Texas (AP) - Texas A&M University-Commerce President Keith McFarland says he'll retire next summer.

McFarland has been with the university for almost 38 years, the past ten as president.

He previously served as history professor, department head and dean of the university's graduate school.

His retirement is effective July 31st.

Texas A&M University System Chancellor Mike McKinney says a search committee will be formed to find a successor for McFarland.
