The largest freshman class ever at Texas A&M University was officially welcomed to the fold Sunday afternoon.
Freshmen gathered together for a special convocation at Reed Arena where Interim President Eddie Davis gave them big 'Howdy'.
This ceremony marks the only time the class of 2011 will be in the same place and the same time until graduation.
The convocation gives the freshman a chance to see and experience a semblance of their Aggie graduation.
The university's Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs Kristin Harper said the event is used to put the fish at ease as they embark on their collegiate career.
"We hope that they understand that they are a part of this community of learners," Harper said. "We're all learning together. We hope they understand the connection between faculty and students and the importance of that connection."
Sunday marked the fifth Freshman Convocation at Texas A&M.
