The former head of the Arts Council who was indicted on theft charges is now on shaky ground with his current place of employment.
P. David Romei has been placed on paid administrative leave with the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
Last week, Romei was indicted on multiple theft charges. He is accused of stealing or misusing about $40,000 from the Arts Council and the City of College Station for personal trips, medicine and other personal uses.
Romei is currently the Vice President of External Affairs and Development, in charge of coordinating philanthropic events.
The Health Science Center says it has not launched an investigation into its own audit and officials say Romei did not have signature authority over the foundation.
