Texas A&M Breaks Ground on Veterinary Imaging and Cancer Treatment Center
This state-of-the-art facility allows clinical specialists to conduct research with new cancer imaging and screening methods. This research works toward finding cures for cancers in both animals and humans.

The future of veterinary medicine is coming to Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences in the form of a state-of-the-art Imaging and Cancer Treatment Center, and with that comes diagnostic and treatment capabilities never before possible in one location.

"Combining the best equipment with the skilled clinical specialists of our Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital enables us to provide better care for patients of all species and better service to our referring veterinarians – as well as to our profession. In addition, this new technology allows our students to experience the latest in diagnostic and therapeutic imaging and will equip them with new knowledge that leads to becoming better veterinarians in the future."

In addition to representatives from the Board of Regents, the Chancellor’s Office, and President Loftin, major contributors to the project will be represented. Dr. Stephen Fletcher, Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Hermann Hospital and from the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston, will provide the keynote address which will focus on the “One Health” aspect of this facility and how it will facilitate research that will help to find cures for cancer for both humans and animals through collaboration.
