The Texas A&M Health Science Center has confirmed that P. David Romei is no longer employed as Vice President of External Affairs and Development.
The HSC would not say when Romei was released from his duties, only that a search for his replacement is underway.
Officials with the center say Dr. Nancy Dickey, the president of the HSC, determined the institution would be better served in identifiying new leadership.
Romei was in charge of philathropic event coordination for the HSC.
More notably, Romei is former director of the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley. He has been indicted on charges that he used $40,000 of arts council and College Station money for his own personal use.
Romei was placed on paid administrative leave by the HSC prior to his termination.
