The Texas Firefighter Olympics has announced it is coming to Bryan-College Station for the 2008 games.
State committee members are expected to be in town later this month to tour the cities and venues.
The games will feature a variety of sports ranging from golf to paintball, with current and retired firefighters from all across the state expected to participate in the event.
The Texas Firefighter Olympics has not been held in the area in more than decade, however, organizers are hoping to put the area on a five-year rotation plan.
An estimated 2,000 firefighters will be in the area for the event, with an anticipated 3,000 friends and family members in attendance. The Bryan-College Station Convention Bureau says the games could have an economic impact of $1.1 million.
