He was indicted for capital murder. Now, Christian Olsen faces the death penalty.
During a pre-trial hearing Monday afternoon, the state announced it will seek the death penalty for Olsen's alleged acts on Oak Hollow Drive in Bryan.
Olsen was indicted for capital murder in the death of Etta Jean Westbrook in June. Authorities say the Bryan resident confessed to killing Westbrook, 68, who lived across the street from him on Oak Hollow. Police tracked him down as he was using her stolen credit cards around town.
Olsen was also indicted for the murder of Geraldine Lloyd, 63, who he was living with on Oak Hollow. Authorities acted on a tip following Westbrook's murder and found Lloyd's body buried in her backyard.
Olsen pleaded not guilty Monday.
Prosecutors are expected to try Olsen for capital murder in the spring.
