Five years after he fled to Mexico following a fatal stabbing in Bryan, Juan Martinez has been sentenced for murder.

He has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.
"We reluctantly made this recommendation after an objective evaluation of the evidence available at this time, and the realities that would be faced at trial," Brazos County Assistant District Attorney Brian Baker said.
