Bryan-College Station Readies For National Fastpitch Championships
Thousand of 16 and under players, coaches, families and friends will descend upon Bryan College Station starting this weekend for the USA/ASA national tournament

The fields are being readied, watered, cut and clipped for 160 softball fastpitch teams.
Thousand of 16 and under players, coaches, families and friends will descend upon Bryan College Station starting this weekend for the USA/ASA national championships August 1st through the 8th. 6500 people in all are expected.
Every softball field in Bryan & College Station will be in use.
This comes at what's usually the slowest times of the summer for tourism. Expect lines at the restaurants and every hotel from Navasota to Franklin to be full.
By the time it's all done the Convention & Visitors Bureau expect a $3-million economic impact.
The exposure the city and Texas A&M gets by all of the visitors is priceless.

To HELP OUR VISITORS OUT - FYI the BCSCVB is funded by Hotel Occupancy tax from only the cities of Bryan & College Station. Local BCS businesses (especially hotels) would NOT agree to listing hotels that do NOT financially support the marketing efforts of the BCSCVB. However - the BCSCVB does help visitors/teams in finding hotel accommodations in surrounding communities when ALL hotels in BCS are full. Call and ask the staff there to refer your property - their friendly staff will come out to visit you and your property and will refer people to your property when all hotels are full in BCS. (football, parents weekends, fireschool, tournaments, etc.) The BCSCVB staff have always been friendly and helpful to me and all visitors that I have helped bring into our wonderful community.
Thanks for the complements on our field at AMC. I did offer our field to the city for use and would be honored if we were able to host the finals on our field as well. As of now, I haven't heard that our field is needed.
Its funny how everyone gets excited about the economic impact that fastpitch softball brings to a community yet no support is given to the local travel teams that are right here from your own community. It is sad that local teams have to RENT fields for practice. They have to use there own money that could be used for equipment, playing tournaments, or hosting tournaments on the beautiful fields we have in our area. These kids work hard and deserve the communities support (year round not just when it’s good for the business owners) for all the hard work they do. Next time you get a chance support your local travel team by buying from fundraisers, or just watching and rooting for them. You will be surprised at how much talent there is in BCS and surrounding counties.
