COLLEGE STATION, July 27, 2010 – Texas A&M University today announced it has signed a letter of intent with PepsiCo to bring its comprehensive “Power of One” product portfolio to university locations beginning in August.
The multi-year partnership initially features PepsiCo’s comprehensive beverage lineup of Pepsi carbonated soft drinks, Lipton teas, Aquafina, SoBe and Propel waters and Gatorade sports drinks, among others. Dr. Pepper carbonated soft drinks will continue to be available on campus as well. The deal further expands to include Frito-Lay, Quaker and other PepsiCo food products. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“This innovative partnership will help us maximize revenues across campus food and beverage operations, while delivering unique, customized programs and benefits for Texas A&M students,” said Chief Business Officer B.J. Crain. “Beyond this broader array of beverage and food choices for our students, faculty, staff and visitors, PepsiCo is providing significant benefits to the campus community through a range of environmental recycling programs, new scholarships and leading edge social/digital media tools and experiences. These capabilities directly complement the traditions and spirit that make Texas A&M the leader it is.”
As part of the multiyear partnership, PepsiCo will be the official beverage provider for campus foodservice, and PepsiCo brands will be featured in more than 1,000 on-campus vending machines. Campus retail outlets and athletic venues also will sell PepsiCo products. Under plans to be executed over time, PepsiCo will deliver customized student programs and unique concession options, provide innovative on-campus recycling initiatives and award-dedicated Pepsi Refresh Project student grants.
“I couldn’t be more excited to begin this historic partnership with Texas A&M,” said Pepsi Beverages Company CEO Eric Foss. “The University’s rich tradition of academic excellence, community engagement and deep-rooted values is clearly aligned with PepsiCo’s commitment to deliver what we call Performance with Purpose – and give back to the communities we serve with responsible, sustainable business practices. This connection point is the center piece of a prosperous relationship for many years to come, one that benefits students, faculty, the administration and the communities served by the university.”
Texas A&M is the nation’s seventh largest university with nearly 49,000 students. The agreement also includes the university’s marine-oriented branch campus in Galveston.
“I was honored to be on the reviewing committee and was kept up to date from the start,” said Student Body President Jacob Robinson. “Pepsi brings a lot of great things to the student body of A&M. The students will benefit from financial donations as well as drink donations. Pepsi has also promised to support students through scholarships and other avenues. This contract is a great thing for Aggieland and I could not be more excited.”

I was excited to hear that Pepsi was coming to campus however we received our new machine in our building AND NOT ONE PEPSI (or other soda) in the machine! Energy drinks, juice, coffee, others, but no Pepsi.
It's funny that A & M researchers are doing a study to help "understand" obesity in America while at the same time it endorses "Pepsi" which has zero nutritional value and most likely is a culprit. To all you pepsi and coke drrinkers, it's bad for your health. Water nourishes and provides necessary hydration. Soda pop is bad for your liver, pancreas, and your belt line.
I for one will sneak coke into the games. I hate Pepsi. NASTY
