A Jefferson Award recipient who died earlier this week was remembered Friday by family and friends.

Ethel Clark, of Bryan, passed away Sunday at the age of 85.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at First United Methodist Church of Bryan, where she was an active member.

Clark received the Jefferson Award in 2005 for her dedication to public service.

When she and her husband, Don, moved from Ohio to Bryan in the 1960s, Ethel made volunteering her mission in life.

From serving as a HOST volunteer, to visiting seniors at a local retirement community, there's no way to measure how many lives Ethel Clark touched in our community and beyond.

During a 2005 interview, Clark said, "I do it because I feel I should be doing it, and I like to do it. I enjoy meeting the people, and somewhere along the line, I might encourage somebody."

Clark will be buried later this month at Lake View Cemetery in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
