A&M Launches Spanish Sports Radio Network

Texas A&M football fans who want to listen to the games in Spanish now have an option.

Wednesday, Aggie Athletics and Learfield Sports, which holds multimedia rights for A&M, announced a Spanish network that will broadcast all games, starting with South Carolina on August 28.

Sirius XM satellite radio will carry the broadcasts, along with a live stream on 12thMan.com and on radio stations in San Antonio, Houston, El Paso and McAllen.

Pedro Vela Almaguer will do play-by-play. Alberto Rodriguez will be the color commentator.

"It is important that we share the Texas A&M brand across the state and to do so we need a Spanish language option for our fans.” A&M System Chancellor John Sharp said in a statement. “We believe this is a real step forward for Aggie sports as we begin our third season in the SEC."

Currently, there are 55 English radio affiliates for the Aggies through Learfield, but the A&M System notes that 38 percent of the state's population is Hispanic, and that Nielsen research notes 93 percent of younger Hispanic audiences listen to some form of radio each week.
