BRYAN - The trial of a Bryan man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and threatening her life has begun.
Lance Gentry faces a jury in the 272nd District Court in Bryan. He was arrested one year ago Monday -- July 15, 2013 -- and accused of taking his ex from her College Station apartment, driving her to Smetana and threatening to kill her.
Gentry, 36, allegedly tried to pour gasoline on the woman and tried to strangle her before she escaped and called police.
The ex-girlfriend had also filed a complaint about Gentry sending hundreds of threatening texts.
Gentry could face up to 99 years in prison if convicted of the first degree felony.
