Aggie Basketball Program Helps CS School Get Court

The Texas A&M basketball program is helping a College Station elementary school reach its goal to build a basketball court.

Southwood Valley Elementary is the only school in College Station that doesn't have an outdoor basketball court, so Thursday night, they held a fundraiser called "Help us Raise our Goal".

Texas A&M basketball players were there teaching kids basketball skills, while the Aggie dance team performed with some of the students.

There was even a scrimmage between A&M coaches and Southwood Valley teachers, with Aggie women's basketball coach Gary Blair serving as the game's announcer.

He made a surprise announcement that the Aggie men's and women's programs donated $10,000 toward the court.

Organizers hope to build the outdoor basketball court over Christmas break.
