Aggie Competes in First UFC Fight, But Falls Short

LAS VEGAS - An Aggie who fights out of College Station competed in his first Ultimate Fighting Championship fight, but came up short.

Saturday, Bubba "The Fightin' Texas Aggie" Bush was defeated by technical knockout at 1:01 of the first round of his fight against "King" Kevin Casey. The matchup took place as part of the preliminary fights for the UFC 175 event in Las Vegas.

Bush, 28, was knocked down early, and the fight was stopped after repeated elbow strikes to Bush's head from Casey, 33.

The Legacy Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder, Bush is now 8-3 in his career with his first loss in five fights. He helps operate and coaches at the Brazos Valley Mixed Martial Arts gym in College Station, and is due to get married next month. In a News 3 feature in May, Bush discussed his goal of spreading the gospel through his fighting career.

Casey, the son-in-law of Muhammad Ali, improved to 9-3.
