Aggie Ring Day Brings in a Crowd of Thousands

Nearly 1,500 Texas A&M students are getting some new bling today, but this isn't any ordinary jewelry. It is one of a kind, exclusively worn by Aggies only.

The Association of Former Students is celebrating Aggie Ring Day this afternoon on campus. The crowd was sporting maroon and dressed with all smiles for the occasion. The newest recipients of the pure gold ring took pictures with friends and family today, proudly showing off their accomplishment.

Aggies of all ages gathered together at the Association, making the day unforgetable for a lot of generations. It is a tradition for relatives to present the ring to the newest member, and Texas A&M senior Stephen West said it is a memory he will never forget.

"A lot of my family members have been through here," said West. "It has been a cool experience finally being able to put the ring on my finger. I am just so happy the day is finally here."

Ring Day is one of A&M's most symbolic and wellknown traditions. People around the world can recognize a fellow Aggie by simply glancing at the ring.
