Aggieland prides itself on its ambiance on football game days, and now, it's part of an online contest looking for the best of the best in the nation.
USA Today's travel section features 10Best, a look at a variety of categories and locations across the country. One of the on-going votes is for favorite game day spot.
College Station and Texas A&M is one of 20 nominees in the contest, which runs until October 21.
"A journalist on assignment from UTEP once described the Aggies of Texas A&M University as cult-like -- and the fervor with which fans support the team and follow longstanding traditions, like midnight yell practice the night before a game, certainly merits the comparison," reads the USA Today write-up on Aggieland. "Now that the Aggies have joined the SEC and have Heisman-winner Johnny 'Football' Manziel leading the team, it looks to be an exciting season."
A&M and the University of Texas are the only two Texas schools on the list. As for the SEC, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Alabama join the Aggies on the list of nominees.
As of Friday morning, Clemson was the leader in the voting, with South Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan and Nebraska rounding out the top five.
