Alleged Drug Trafficker Nabbed at the Cameron Long-Bridge

On Sunday, February 5, Milam County Sheriff’s Deputy, Edward Veracruz, stopped a vehicle for speeding on U.S. Highway 36/190 just outside of Cameron at the “Long-Bridge”. The vehicle was occupied by Sylvester Brown a 23 year old man from Harker Heights.

During a roadside interview with the subject, Deputy Veracruz became suspicious of the subject and had him exit the vehicle. While checking Mr. Brown for weapons, Deputy Veracruz located two bags of Xanax – or Alprazolam, an illegal narcotic.

Mr. Brown was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Milam County Jail for 1st degree felony - Delivery of a Controlled Substance More than 1600 tablets were seized weighing between 200 and 400 grams.

Mr. Brown was later arraigned and bond set at 100,000 dollars. Milam County Sheriff David Greene estimated the street value of the drugs to be worth approximately 10,000 dollars.
