It can be tough finding your way around town, but these new "way finder" signs will make that a bit easier.

After years of planning, The Cities of Bryan, College Station and Texas A&M gave the green light to put up around 144 "way finder" signs. This project has been in the works since 2001 and now there's a solution to help people find their way around town.

Many visitors come into town for Texas A&M football games and other events, and will be looking for things to do before and after the game. These signs will help.

"The visitors contribute back to the community because they visit local restaurants and other businesses,"said Shannon Overby.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau says that this project will be paid for by hotel occupancy taxes and is costing about $400- thousand, which put some residents on the fence.

"We did hear some push back from residents that it is a lot of money could be spent in the community, but hotel occupancy tax can not be spent in that way," said Overby

"It's called GPS that's normally what I would use, if it was coming out of my pocket I might not be too happy about it, but there's nothing you can really do about it," said Alyson Ludeke.

Signs are going up one after one in the 11 locations starting with George Bush Drive next to the Texas A&M campus.

Overby says she's just so excited it's finally happening.

All signs are expected to be installed by the end of next week, just in time for the heart of football season.
