Another Human Tests Positive for West Nile in Brazos County

Updated: Tue 3:46 PM, Aug 07, 2012

A second human this year has tested positive for West Nile Virus in Brazos County, according to the health department.

Tuesday afternoon, the department released that the victim was a woman between 20 and 40 years old and is expected to make a full recovery.

Last week, the first case of the year in the county was announced, though the female patient was said to be improving and was not suffering from the neuro-invasive version that can be deadly.

Multiples deaths have been reported statewide, most in the Dallas area.

In addition, mosquito pools being tested by Brazos County officials continue to test positive for WNV. They say all the county is positive for the disease.

To help defend against the disease, you're asked to drain standing water, wear insect repellent with DEET, stay indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most prevalent, and wear long sleeves and pants when outdoors.
