SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A now-retired Army master sergeant and his wife have been convicted in a scheme of selling items obtained through illegal requisitions on behalf of his Fort Sam Houston unit.

Federal prosecutors in San Antonio say from 2004-10, Francisco Javier De La Maza illegally obtained computers, equipment and military uniforms, and the couple sold them for their profit.

Francisco De La Maza was sentenced two weeks ago to 40 months in federal prison. Documents show he pleaded guilty to theft of government property and aggravated identity theft.

His wife, Gabriela De La Maza, was sentenced to five years' probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy to launder money.

As part of the judgment finalized Tuesday, they also were ordered to pay nearly $861,000 in restitution and to forfeit four properties.
