A Caldwell man has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a retired Caldwell city worker.
Police say Bennie King, 63, was found dead inside his home yesterday afternoon by someone else that lived inside of the home.
Family members tell us he lived at home with his wife.
King's son says he worked as a maintenance man for the City of Caldwell before he retired. King was a father of four, and neighbors describe him as a talkative and friendly guy.
Nortorris LaMonte Deere, 37, from Caldwell was questioned Friday night by police and later charged with the crime. He is currently being held in the Burleson County Jail on $500,000 bond.
King's body was sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office. Autopsy results are still pending.
The Caldwell Police Department, the Burleson County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers, and Department of Public Safety responded to the scene.
