CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - At least three people have been hospitalized following an early morning house explosion in South Texas.
The house was destroyed shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday in Corpus Christi and at least two adjacent homes were heavily damaged. Fire officials say other homes up to three blocks away sustained broken windows and other damage.
It's believed the three injured people were all in the house that was leveled. The Corpus Christi Caller-Times described their injuries as critical.
Heavy smoke billowed from the home as multiple emergency crews descended on the neighborhood near the city's south side.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the explosion. Utility workers cut gas and electric service to the neighborhood as a precaution.
