SHORT HILLS, N.J. - Authorities say one person has been shot during a carjacking at The Mall at Short Hills.
Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly confirmed the shooting Sunday night at the upscale mall about 23 miles west of Manhattan.
WABC-TV reports that the shooting caused authorities to place the mall on lockdown as a precaution. There is no immediate threat to anyone inside the mall.
The television station says an employee at the California Pizza Kitchen, located inside the mall, said someone was shot in the parking lot.
The mall has about 160 stores and restaurants.
