Baby Killed in Washington County Rollover Crash

WASHINGTON A 7 month old baby was thrown from a car seat and died in a single-vehicle crash and rollover in Washington County Tuesday morning.

It happened on FM 50 just north of Independence.

A state trooper says a father driving his two children home told them he fell asleep at the wheel, went off the highway, tried to steer his SUV back on the pavement, but hit a tree and rolled over.

His 7 month old son was killed.

The father and a 2 year old daughter were not seriously injured.

Department of Public Safety investigators are checking to see if the baby's car seat was properly installed.
