Suspect Arrested in Bryan Bank Robbery

BRYAN A suspect has been arrested following a bank robbery at a Bryan branch of Prosperity Bank.

Kydrick Reshawd Benton, 24 of Houston, was taken into custody late Wednesday afternoon about two miles from the bank, which is near the intersection of Highway 21 and Texas Avenue.

According to Bryan Police, the robbery took place at around 3:50 p.m. when a man wearing a black hoodie and armed with a firearm reportedly entered the bank. He made off with an undisclosed amount of money and left the area.

No one was injured in the incident. There were customers in the bank at the time along with employees.

A vehicle description was provided to police, who later located the vehicle on Hutchins near 33rd Street.

A News 3 photojournalist witnessed police entering a home on Hutchins with guns drawn. Shortly after, Benton was taken into custody nearby.

Police say evidence at the scene linked Benton to the robbery, and the money he allegedly stole was recovered.

As of early Wednesday evening, bond had not been set for Benton, who was booked into the Brazos County jail.
