Blue Bell in Space

Blue Bell Ice Cream has made its way back to outer space.
The latest cargo delivered to the International Space Station today (Wednesday) included 100 Blue Bell chocolate sundae cups.
The cargo, delivered by SpaceX’s Dragon cargo capsule, was the first NASA-contracted commercial mission to resupply the orbiting laboratory.
A NASA spokesman says the cups are real ice cream—not the freeze-dried variety usually sent into space.
NASA space station program manager Michael Suffredini, says they try to deliver some “bonus food” for the crew, and the sundae cups are just that.
The Blue Bell was stored in a special GLACIER freezer on board the capsule on its three-day trip to the Space Station.
Blue Bell has been on the Space Station before—first launched on the laboratory aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis in 2006.
